URGENT REQUIREMENT FOR FULL TIME / PART TIME GP
Isabella Plains Medical Centre ( IPMC ) is one of the leading privately owned practices in Canberra and has been in the Tuggeranong Valley since the early 1990s. As a result, we have a huge established and loyal patient base.
With 15 doctors , 6 practice nurses , a suite of allied health and a strong administartive team , we provide a collegiate working environment where flexibility is the key - work as little or as much as you like.
IPMC has a strong culture of teaching, hosting medical students and registrars on a constant basis - infact 10 of our current doctors are previous registrars at the practice, which is a testimony to our reputation.
The practice is big enough to accomodate doctors leave when they wish but also not too big to be impersonal. We strive to deliver high quality health care but also enjoy the journey and develop personally.
We encourage doctors to pursue other medical or non medical interests which has resulted in a rich tapestry of experience amongst our team.
With the strong nursing team there is assistance with CDM item numbers as well as general nursing duties. The practice also enjoys those with special skills such as skin and sports medicine which provides support to the medical and nursing team.
We are seeking a VR GP to join our team on a FT or PT basis - whatever works for you.
With extended opening hours you can choose when you work and for how long. This flexibility has supported many scenarios such as those returning from maternity leave who only wanted a short after hours shift to allow childcare to work, those requiring special hours due to health /family issues or those who wanted to pick up a few hours of extra work to supplement their income. It has also supported those who wish to work full time.
The established and growing nature of the practice ensures that any new member of the team who joins us will have the benefit of an established patient load from the start.

Hobart Place General Practice is a privately owned practice in Canberra City. Many of the doctors at Hobart Place General Practice have moved across from our previous practice, Interchange General Practice, so they are doctors with established reputations and large patient cohorts and have continued the tradition of providing the comprehensive and non-judgmental healthcare that Interchange General Practice was well-known for.
Hobart Place is a mixed billing practice with 12 consulting rooms, 2 treatment rooms, dedicated nurses rooms, a skin examination room and a very spacious tearoom where staff and doctors can mingle sociably for lunch. Hobart Place General Practice is situated in a vibrant and developing part of the city with many exciting food options for lunch. There are also many apartment buildings either completed or being constructed within easy walking distance of the practice so we anticipate an increasing demand for medical services over the next few years. Our proximity to the ANU means that the student population of the ANU is a potential source of patients. Some of our doctors will be looking at retirement in the near future so there is an opportunity to take on the care of established patients.
We are seeking a F/T or P/T VR GP to join our team at Hobart Place General Practice. Hobart Place General Practice has a different billing policy than Interchange General Practice so we attract a slightly different patient demographic.
The doctor joining our team will find himself/herself working in a warm, supportive and welcoming atmosphere. We are a medium-sized practice so we are large enough that we can have flexible leave arrangements for our doctors and good nursing and administrative support. We are also small enough to remain a friendly practice where everyone knows each other and communication is easy. As we are privately owned, you have easy access to the Practice Principal and senior management; issues can be resolved promptly and your voice will be heard. There is good nursing support for CDM programs but no coercion or targets; GPs decide who they want to enrol in programs and you sign off the documents for your patients. We have helped a couple of the doctors joining us in the last two years to develop their special interests in skin cancer medicine and minor surgery and are prepared to help develop and promote any special interest that doctors joining us may have. We have also helped a couple of our doctors move into practice ownership; appropriate mentorship and financial support for the right person is available.
Many GPs have a vocation for service to their community. We now have a great opportunity where you can be of service.
Interchange Health Cooperative was established in Tuggeranong in August 2019. Many of the doctors at Interchange Health Cooperative have moved across from our previous practice, Interchange General Practice, so they are doctors with established reputations and large patient cohorts and have continued the tradition of providing the comprehensive and non-judgmental healthcare that Interchange General Practice was well-known for.
As a patient-owned cooperative, patients of Interchange Health Cooperative pay an annual membership fee and all consultations are then bulk-billed. This means that there is no uncertainty about billing the patients for their consultations. The Interchange Health Cooperative continues the tradition of the Interchange General Practice for providing non-judgmental healthcare for all. As a result, the Interchange Health Cooperative looks after some of the most disadvantaged people in Canberra including nearly 300 people on opiate replacement treatment. We are also getting referrals from other practices for management of their complex patients with chronic pain, personality disorders and mental health issues. I know this can sound challenging but you will be working in an environment with other doctors who are committed to providing care to this disadvantaged population so you will get lots of support from the other doctors and staff at this practice. Our doctors find that working with a challenging population can also be very rewarding. I should also add that we also see a lot of patients who come from the usual population in Tuggeranong. You will also have easy access to senior management on site so any issues are quickly addressed and sorted out.
Trans-Ax Health Care was established with the goal of supporting and empowering doctors to deliver quality care.
We're looking for additional GP support given growing patient demand.
