Sleep dysfunction is a common presentation in primary care and a major factor in chronic mental and physical disease. Capital Health Network, together with sleep experts in the ACT, invite primary care providers to a series of 5 webinars providing a comprehensive toolkit for adult sleep medicine in the community. Sleep Webinar 4 explores restless legs and circadian rhythm disorders such as advanced sleep phase syndrome, delayed sleep phase syndrome, jet lag and shift work sleep disorder.

Join Capital Health Network and Sports Physician, Dr Karen Bisley for a webinar exploring the impact of RED-S on metabolism, menstrual function, bone health, energy levels, cardiovascular health and overtraining syndrome.
Regular exercise is critical for long-term mental and physical health. But what happens if exercise becomes counter productive? Relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S) develops when there is insufficient calorie intake relative to energy expenditure in the context of athletic performance.
A certificate of attendance will be provided to attendees of the live webinar. Attendees are welcome to self-report CPD hours to their education dashboard, (Educational Activity 1.5 hours). The webinar will be posted online on Capital Health Network’s YouTube.

The ACT Gynaecology Services Education Day is back! Capital Health Network together with experts from The North Canberra Hospital and The Canberra Hospital are hosting a face-to-face event for GPs on Saturday 18 May, 9am – 3pm. The day will provide a comprehensive program on common gynaecological conditions.
Learning Outcomes :
- Develop an investigation and management plan for common gynaecology conditions such as, endometriosis, abnormal bleeding and ovarian masses.
- Confidently implement the National Cervical Screening Program.
- Identify treatment options and referral pathways for gynaecology and pelvic pain.
- Discuss the benefits, efficacy, and side effects of LARCs

Capital Health Network, through the National Indigenous Australian’s Health Programme, invites all community based primary healthcare providers in the ACT and surrounding areas and their staff to participate in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Awareness Training
About this training
Historical and ongoing trauma and injustices shape the health of Aboriginal and Torres Staright Islander people today. Institutional and implicit racism effects the interactions between Aborginial and Torres Straight Islander peoples and the health system. GPs need to understand the context in which Aborginial and Torres Sraight Islander peoples engage with the healthcare system and the unqiue factors which determine their acute and chronic physical and mental health outcomes.
At the end of the session participants will able to:
- Describe and compare the differences between cultural awareness and cultural safety
- Apply knowledge and understanding of culture and the impacts of historical events when caring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients
- Implement changes in practice to improve cultural safety and health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients
- Assess their own level of cultural competence and identify further learning needs and opportunities

An interactive Virtual Roadshow bringing a tailored approach of Cardiovascular Risk Reduction from the Heart Foundation in collaboration with ACT PHN.
This interactive, live Virtual Workshop will bring together a specialist presentation followed by breakout groups and completed with live audience Panel Q & A with the following objectives:
– Update primary care health professionals on the latest clinical risk assessment recommendations incorporating new evidence on risk factors, imaging and biomarkers .
– Provide practical advice for the application of Heart Health Checks, including available resources for the general practice team. Participants will be encouraged to systematically embed Heart Health Checks as part of routine care.
– Guidance on the management of high blood pressure and cholesterol, nutrition and other lifestyle support strategies
– Increase knowledge on local referral pathways for risk factor management and review.
– Support the design and delivery of quality improvement activities to leverage national and local incentives for ease of implementation.
