When COVID-19 first hit Australia, the CHN Education Program promptly and successfully pivoted to webinar-based delivery and rapidly included practical topics related to COVID-19. To support primary care with immediate issues and forward planning we launched our Business Continuity Webinar Series and also supported ACT Health to deliver key COVID-19 information to primary care and residential aged care facilities.
In 2019/20 we delivered education to over 1,350 health professionals including GPs, Practice Nurses, Physiotherapists, Pharmacists and Psychologists, with just over half attending a session by webinar.
The CHN Education Program aims to increase knowledge, develop clinical skills and enhance the way in which health care is delivered and health professionals are supported. It includes continued professional development (CPD) opportunities, practical skills sessions and events focused specifically on supporting niche groups in the sector, including Practice Nurses and Practice Managers.
We’re accredited as part of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners’ (RACGP) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program which supports Australian GPs to maintain and improve their professional knowledge and skills in order to provide the best possible care for patients and their communities.
CHN aligns the education program closely with our overarching needs assessment process to ensure our program is addressing identified areas of need and throughout the year we regularly sought feedback from the sector for new event ideas.
