The Connected Program is a culturally sensitive, evidence-based mental health service for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people aged under 25 years. CHN, ACT’s PHN commissioned Marathon Health to deliver Connected to improve the social and emotional wellbeing of young people through the provision of one-on-one support. In the last year, 30 clients were supported through the Connected Program.
The Connected program’s effort aimed at enhancing and better integrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental health services at a local level by facilitating a joined-up approach with closely connected services including social and emotional wellbeing, suicide prevention and alcohol and other drugs services.

Identifying vicarious trauma in a child and working sensitively and respectfully with the family to make them aware of the extent of their child’s exposure to violence, and its impact.
Working collaboratively with school staff to coordinate external service engagement for a young child with high speech therapy needs.
Identifying a child’s breathing irregularities and working with the school and family to follow up with their asthma management plan and sourcing a number of Asthma Foundation aids for the school.
