The CHN Education Program aims to increase knowledge, develop clinical skills and enhance the way in which health care is delivered and health professionals are supported. It includes continued professional development (CPD) opportunities, practical skills sessions and events focused specifically on supporting niche groups in the sector, including Practice Nurses and Practice Managers.
Over the last year, CHN hosted 45 events for primary care. Over 1,700 primary health care professionals attended which is an increase of over 25% from the previous year. Over 50% of attendees were nurses and midwives, 30% were GPs and the remainder were allied health professionals and other professionals. These events covered topics including COVID-19 vaccine rollout, mental health, influenza, wound care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and cultural awareness.
As many face-to-face events were shifted online due to COVID-19, CHN has produced 17 webinars which have attracted over 1,300 viewers. Many of the webinars are hosted on CHN’s YouTube channel and are available on-demand. We also held regular networking and education meetings for Practice Managers and Practice Nurses. Feedback for our education program has been positive with attendees indicating their appreciation and continued support for events that broaden their skills and create networking opportunities.
