Client story

A client was referred by a GP to psychiatry and psychology. The young person had issues around bullying, schooling, attention and behavioural problems. The young person was enabled to describe and discuss their experience. This was augmented by their mother’s experience of family struggles and interactions from schools and counsellors. The young person was diagnosed with ADHD. A trial of medication was commenced, and they were linked in with a Cultural Youth Worker. There was an impressive response on follow up with substantially improved community engagement.
