Practice Nurses play a key role within primary health care. One of the key strategic outcomes of the Capital Health Network (CHN) is to ensure we have a skilled, capable, and productive workforce that is delivering safe, high quality and effective services. The Transition to Practice (TPP) program is delivered in collaboration with the Australian Practice Nurses Association. The program aims to build the knowledge, skills and confidence of nurses who have moved into a new primary health care setting or upskill nurses that are new or planning to move into primary care through an evidence-based supportive approach.
Over the last year, 21 Practice Nurses were awarded scholarships to undertake the Understanding Vaccines and the National Immunisation Program through South Australia Health. Six nurses have completed the program, and all rated the course a 10/10 and recommended the program to fellow nurses.
