Position Description

The General Practitioner is required to provide primary health care assessment, diagnosis, treatment,
support, education, referral and advocacy to young people and their children, within scope of
knowledge, training and experience and have a working knowledge of legislation and standards of
General Practice. The General Practitioner is required to order diagnostic tests as clinically indicated, check and inform patients of results and enter appropriate reminders and recalls as per The Junction’s policy.
The General Practitioner works closely with the case management team to ensure an integrated service
delivery model, which incorporates the Sanctuary Model framework.

Practice Description

Junction Youth Health Service (The Junction) provides multidisciplinary, primary healthcare to young people aged 12 to 25 years. The Junction has developed a highly effective model over this time which focuses on engaging marginalised young people by delivering flexible and holistic services in a relaxed, inclusive, and youth-friendly environment. Services are provided from our drop-in centre in Civic, and in more recent years from North and South Canberra locations via our Mobile Outreach Van.
